Inserting page numbers is crucial while printing worksheets. While you are working on a workbook, you won’t see the page number. When you go to the page layout option, you’ll be able to see the page number. You’ll see the page number when you print the page. One thing you should remember is that the page number is added only to either header or footer. So, whenever you need to add a page number, you’ll have to find the Header and Footer option. I’ll explain three methods to add page numbers to Microsoft excel. Method 1: First of all, go to View Menu and then Page Layout. Now when you hover your mouse on the top, you’ll find the header. If you hover at your mouse at the bottom of the page, you’ll find the footer. Now inside the three rows (Either Header or footer), select one. Now a contextual tab menu will open named Design. Under the design tab, you’ll see Page Number. If you click on that that you’ll see &[Page] will be written on the header. It will become the page number. Click on any cell, and you will find the page number. Now, if your page is empty, then you’ll see #. When you write something on the page, the number will appear. There is another menu Named Number of Pages under the design tab. It will insert the number of pages inside your header or footer, whatever you select. Method 2: You can also add Page numbers through the insert Tab. Click on Insert and then click on the Text Menu. Select the Header & Footer menu. That will redirect you to the page layout option with the contextual Design tab. Now follow the instructions from Method 1 and Done. You’ll be able to insert page number on excel Method 3: The third way is to click on the Page Layout Menu. Now, click on the small arrow from the page setup toolbar. It will open the page setup popup. Now click on Header and Footer. Now click on the dropdown on either header or footer. Select “Page 1” for Page numbers and “Page 1 of ?” for number of pages. Many times, and Excel Spreadsheet doesn’t fit on one page because it is too large. Cells are pushed to another page, and depending how we have organized our data, we sometimes need to change the order of the pages manually so it could be easier for the viewer. Sometimes additional Columns will be printed at the end of the Sheet, after all the Rows have been printed and many other issues also occur. In the following image, we can see the order of the Page Breaks that we have in our Spreadsheet. We can see Page 1, beneath it we see Page 2 and it goes on until Page 7. Then it starts again from the top middle section with the numbering Page 8, Page 9 and goes on until Page 14. #microsoftexcel To insert page numbers in Excel, you can use the footer section of the Page Setup options. Here's how you can do it: 1. Open your Excel workbook. 2. Go to the "Insert" tab in the Excel ribbon. 3. Click on the "Header & Footer" button in the "Text" group. This will open the Page Setup options. 4. The worksheet will now be in "Page Layout" view, and the cursor will be in the center section of the header and footer. 5. Click on the "Page Number" button in the "Header & Footer Elements" group. This will display a drop-down menu. 6. From the drop-down menu, select where you want the page number to appear: "Footer" or "Header." 7. You'll notice that the &[Page] code has been inserted at the location of the cursor. This code will be replaced by the actual page number when you view or print the worksheet. 8. You can customize the appearance of the page number by adding additional text or formatting. For example, you can type "Page &[Page] of &[Pages]" to display the page number along with the total number of pages. 9. Once you have inserted the page number, you can click on any other section of the worksheet to exit the header and footer editing mode. The page number will now appear in the designated location of the footer or header on each page of your Excel workbook.
