We attempted to recover the rig from the search and rescue mission, but ran into problems. Our biggest issue was the weather. It was a very strange mix of being below freezing temperatures, but also raining, while in 4' of snow. The snow was soaking up the rain and becoming very heavy, then freezing as it packed into the tracks. It started to cause issues with the sprockets slipping and we had to keep stopping to dig out the tracks. We probably COULD have made it, but with no second vehicle for support, and no chance of the other vehicle being able to make it out even if we did reach it, we decided to play if safe and turn back. We are currently working on a new plan.
