If primary use is only for music library access, photos and internet movie streaming (No gaming, video production or editing, etc). Which would you recommend , basic M2 or M2 Pro) taking into account future growth and obsolescence?
Well at some point though having all these dongles, external drives, etc besides the extra cost takes a lot of extra space and makes for a less robust solution.
I mean 3 Displays is almost a must if you intend to do serious video editing and color grading, so that makes this a no brainer.

Nothing less than 32 gb memory.
I only need equivalent GPU power to an RX570 I use with 1 1080P/60Hz and 1 4K/60Hz display in my current 2012 3.46GHz 12-core Mac Pro. I mainly use DAW software and keep Steam games and DAW sessions on an external SSD so I know my storage needs from a boot drive are 256GB minimum because a bootable clone of my OS drive is under 130GB at present. I also know I can get by with 16GB RAM because I won't be using the boot drive for large bandwidth file transfers like editing 4K video or recording loads of audio tracks. I could get the base M2 with a 16GB upgrade and be 90% there for my daily usage but the 10% of my time where I'd need more GPU cores is still a factor. It's £849 for a BTO M2 with 16GB RAM and base storage from Apple but the M2 Pro still offers much better base specs for £1,277 at present if I bought it from Amazon. It's simply a matter of patience. Especially as the prices of refurbished M1 Max Mac Studios seem to be in the £1,500 range.

I was going to get a Mac mini m2 pro this month, but have doubts now after seeing the packet video. If you just use wifi, does the internet connection screw up too? I have a few other questions about it: can I just use a 1080p monitor? And if the power goes out, would it ruin the ssd drive? (Someone said it would). I had a dell desktop that went though many power outages, and it never ruined the HDD drive.

I started with an Imac mac in 1999. In 2004 I went over to Laptops, be course it is easier to move with a Laptop.Particular if you move from one country to another. But be course i do not have a tv and is tired of the laptop screen size and it is now 2023. My next Apple will be a Mini.
