I have an iPhone 13 and in general I find the images look fairly natural. I don't use cinematic mode that much (I'm primarily a street photographer) so the adjustments in that mode are not a big issue for me. I will say I will be happy when I move up to the iphone 16 ad its periscope lens. A six-time optical and possibly a 10x digital would be a welcome option. I find that text can get blurred at maximum zoom and that should resolve that issue (Which is what you saw in your moonshot) I have to switch to my DSLR (AN SL1) for astral photography. (I shot a lot of modified cars and other vehicles and some of the wraps are very detailed. It's a shame when they are blurred and illegible either in static or in motion shots turning a corner)
Here in Canada the iPhone 14 is $CDN1130 and the S23 is and the S21 is $CDN1013. Accounting for conversion factors this is pretty equivalent.

Honestly in the Selfie portrait video mode Samsung's video quality, its colours and exposure were so close to reality, like i forget tbat that's a smartphone camera it was so good.❤

The battery situation is interesting. Yes, Gen2 has finally matched the level with iPhone, but this much difference is interesting. Did you have any apps running in background in the iPhone ? some GPS tracking ?
I am an android guy, so the choice is easy for me, but I am glad we finally have a processor at iPhone level. I went ahead with S23+ because I dont need the spen and ultra zoom, and I dont wanna pay the premium.
As for the cam, I think S23 can do anything the iPhone does if you go into expert mode and delve with the settings, white balance, saturation and so on. I wish Samsung had something like a dumb camera app which makes this easier.
Samsung video voice are more like podcast style background noise are well suppressed.
iPhone have more background sound and voice is not clear.

Great review as usual. Thanks. I just want to clarify the moon image comparison though(~ YdQBfktF7pw&t=11m25s 11:25 ). Throughout the video, the iPhone images seem to be on the left. For the moon comparison, the image's weren't tagged and you gave the "clear win" to the S23. But, IMHO, the best image was on the left which is usually where the iPhone images were shown. So, unless you did a switcheroo for that shot comparo, the iPhone easily shot a better image. Sorry, but yes, it matters to the pedant in me rather than the Spielberg in me. Cheers.

Been using the the S23 Ultra as a daily driver since it was released and I love it. Samsung really did a great job on this iteration. No wonder they were very confident to use the same design that they had on the previous generation. It doesn't matter that it looked like its predecessor because they knew they knocked it out of the park with what the phone is capable of.
I have 14 pro, my wife has S22 , and to be honest I hate the shutter lag on Samsung, I think this is one of the most critical point when you take photo and nobody is really higlighting it.
They are both great, but I prefer the iPhone max 14Pro. It’s got everything what you need, and the hardware is always great!
Feature for feature, spec for spec, Samsung clearly makes the superior phone in 2023. So many Apple users are either ignorant or simply in denial because they're so stuck in the ecosystem.
base model iPhone 14 pro max USA region costs around USD 1300 and the cheapest S23 Ultra is around USD 1000 here in Bangladesh. Buying from an authorised dealers would cost even more, each of them for like USD 2000 or more
Which blue sky was closer to what you saw in person?
The only thing I like about 14 pro max is that the apps are very well optimized.
