Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced on Saturday that the country would be accepting more Turkish and Syrian residents impacted by the deadly earthquakes more than a month ago, as well as making it easier for those on a temporary stay in Canada to extend their visit. Fraser said they would prioritize the visa applications of people from the two countries, and allow those who have a temporary status to visit family, study, or work in Canada, to apply for an extension. The federal government will also waive the application fees. His department would also prioritize processing temporary visa applications for people affected by the earthquake. We already have nowhere for the other refugees to live. I'm happy to have new immigrants here but there's nowhere for them to work, live etc. Foreign doctors are working in Dollarama, our healthcare system is busted without extra people coming from foreign places. It is expensive to live here. Our own citizens are suffering, refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan are suffering and struggling here. You say you have measures to help them. WHAT ARE THEY!? You're only going to send them from one bad situation to another and our winter is colder and longer. Before you pledge to accept more people how will you keep them safe once they are here? If those of us born here are having a terrible time surviving inflation, the housing crisis etc. How are refugees who have nothing and no one going to make out? I wish Canada could safely take more refugees. I really do. But so far success has not been demonstrated. A Ukrainian refugee in my home town just went BACK because it was too difficult to live here, she came across as the sweetest person too. I don't want to see this happen to more people. Tell us how you will provide for the people in Canada once they're here before you bring more mouths to feed and bodies to house.
Can we look after the people in Canada that are struggling first?
I hope they give them a free house and healthcare and education plus $1000000 per person. We are the dumbest country in the world.

Ok but please keep in mind that people from Turkey and Syria are religious Muslim’s so they are not going to be happy with our trans policies. At the very least they will deeply offended that here in Canada men can be women and men are allowed into women’s spaces and sex changes for children. It’s interesting to watch the woke people in Canada trash Christianity all the time but they defend the Muslim faith which is far more conservative and oppressive than Christianity. Women are second class citizens in Middle East countries and being gay is illegal so don’t be surprised if we start seeing culture clashes over our far left woke policies. I actually get a long a lot better with immigrants than I do white Canadians these days because none of the immigrants I’ve met are woke. They think the woke stuff is super weird. Their reactions are funny. Journos really need to get off Twitter and go outside, actually talk to people. You’ll see how unpopular the woke stuff is with immigrants. Ukrainian’s are also typically a lot more conservative and right wing than Canadians. They have Nazi camps for children in Ukraine so keep that mind media. East Indians typically aren’t woke either. They still have arranged marriages in India. Also none of the immigrants I’ve met are concerned about climate change. It seems they understand the climate has been changing for billions of years and there’s nothing we can do about it. They respect Mother Nature a lot more than we do.

In Ontario, there were 2,099 confirmed and probable opioid deaths in the first 10 months of 2022, which is 13% lower than the 2,416 deaths in the first 10 months of 2021. Despite this, 2022 deaths remain substantially higher than what was observed before the pandemic (2017-2019), both locally and across the province. (These numbers I'm sure aren't the actual numbers, there way higher). I lost 3 family members to fentanyl.

The latest data, which was recently released, shows 110 unhoused individuals – 81 men, 29 women – passed away while staying in a Toronto shelter in 2022. The average age of those who died is 51. This is slightly down from 2021, which saw 132 shelter resident deaths in the city.
